Sour Diesel traces its origins back to Chemdawg genetics, most often linked to the Chemdawg ’91 cut. While exact details remain debated, the prevailing consensus places Sour Diesel as a cross involving Chemdawg and a Skunk lineage, resulting in a plant with both extreme aroma and strong cerebral impact.

This lineage explains Sour Diesel’s defining traits: Chemdawg’s raw intensity combined with Skunk’s vigour and structure. The result was a strain that stood out immediately from earlier hybrids.

Sour Diesel is best known for its fast-acting, uplifting head high. The effects are typically energising, creative, and mentally expansive, with relatively light body sedation compared to indica-dominant strains.

Its aroma is unmistakable — sharp, sour, and fuel-like — often described as diesel, chemical, or skunky citrus. This scent profile became a blueprint for many later sativa-leaning hybrids.
